At Fleetware, we think it’s important to play our part in the global effort to increase equality and the quality of life for the millions of people who are much less fortunate than us. So, every month, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income to be donated to various causes.

We use an organisation called B1G1 which ensures that 100% of our giving goes towards the causes of our choice. This month, our focus was providing housing and shelter to those that need it most.

So, in October we supplied:

  • 60 nights of shelter to homeless children in Vietnam
  • 3 weeks of home repairs to disadvantaged communities in the Philippines
  • 3 months of shelter to a family in India

Supporting Homeless Children in Vietnam

The effects of the global pandemic are continuing to be felt by many Vietnamese children that have been pushed to leave their hometowns in search of work in major cities and the promise of a better life. However, harsh realities await these children in the cities. With no safe place to stay, countless children spend their nights sleeping rough in parks, beside lakes or under bridges that leave them exposed to exploitation, abuse and criminal networks.

This project, pioneered by an organisation called Blue Dragon, consists of a team of social workers that walk the streets of Hanoi each night in search of these vulnerable children, offering them warm meals, compassionate support and safe accommodation. Safe, secure shelter not only protects them from immediate harm, but provides them with a foundation to rebuild their lives and create brighter futures. In 2020, Blue Dragon assisted 153 homeless children and provided accommodation for 341 children and families.

Rebuilding Safe Homes & Communities in the Philippines

Shelter is one of the most fundamental needs for vulnerable families in the Philippines, where an average of 20 typhoons strike each year and a quarter of them cause devastating destruction. For many households living in disaster-prone areas and makeshift dwellings, even a damaged roof can mean the difference between safety and severe hardship. This project focuses on repairing and rebuilding these homes, helping families regain stability while strengthening entire communities.

What makes this initiative stand out is its deeply collaborative approach: donors, volunteers, local governments, and residents themselves all contribute, whether through funding, sweat equity, or on-the-ground support. This shared commitment multiplies the impact of every contribution, creating networks of care that help lift families and communities out of poverty.

Providing Dignified Housing for Families in India

India continues to face a significant housing shortage, with an estimated shortage of 18.78 million homes in urban areas and nearly 29 million in rural communities, leaving many families to live under bridges, along railway lines, or in overcrowded slums. This project endeavours to change this reality by providing families with safe, dignified housing that improves health, security, and long-term wellbeing.

Each home is designed around the needs of the family, built using high-quality local materials, and constructed to meet both government building codes and the organisation’s own strict standards. These homes are spacious, durable, and located within reach of proper sanitation facilities, ensuring families have access to safe living conditions day and night. To date, this project has supported 153 families with traditional, resilient homes built from brick and mud with Mangalorean tile roofs, helping to transform these families’ lives.
