At Fleetware, we think it’s important to play our part in the global effort to increase equality and the quality of life for the millions of people who are much less fortunate than us. So, every month, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income to be donated to various causes.
We use an organisation called B1G1 which ensures that 100% of our giving goes towards the causes of our choice. This month, our focus was providing meals to those that need it most.
So, in July we supplied:
- 185 meals to school children in Kenya
- 40 meals to school children from India with special needs
- 60 meals for abandoned people living on the streets of India
Helping Feed Those in Need
In Kenya, our donation is helping to eliminate classroom hunger and malnutrition by providing two free, nourishing meals each day for its students. Aside from providing students with meals that they would otherwise go without, this program also incentivises parents to enrol their children into their local schools. Having well-fed children in schools means that they can better concentrate during lessons and reach their full academic potential. Providing food at schools is a simple solution, yet its benefits are paramount. It places entire communities into a positive cycle that will help break generations of poverty, with children able to adequately learn and grow into capable, healthy adults.
In India, children living in the slums of Mumbai typically go without daily, nutritious food – even more so if they have special needs or disabilities. This project operates a school that educates over 240 hearing-impaired and intellectually disabled children from the slum communities, providing a daily nutritious meal to every student. For many of them, this meal is the only food they will eat for the entire day. It’s not only an incentive to attend school, but it allows these disadvantaged children to achieve their true potential.
Staying in India, we also supported The Kindness Mobile Restaurant that provides fresh vegan meals for homeless people. This unique initiative aims to spread kindness, compassion and respect for those that have been abandoned or living on the streets – providing 144 meals to each individual, each year!
