PACT Site Security

The Problem

PACT Site Security are a supplier of integrated security, risk and investigation solutions, servicing customers both domestically in Australia and internationally. PACT Site Security specialises in managing building site theft and currently offers its services to 70 builders in the Perth metropolitan area.\

  • Building site theft is a significant problem, with the estimated cost to Builders being around $50 million per year, with this number being stated as a gross underestimate by industry leaders.
  • Most of the theft comes when a project is nearing completion, where there is more potential for a would-be thief to steal, whether it’s whitegoods, fittings, or sound systems.
  • During construction there is also the potential for contractors’ tools, equipment, or materials to be stolen.
  • Some companies use fences, security patrols, lighting, and cameras, however these measures only gone some way to stopping the problem and have limited effectiveness.

The Solution

Fleetware approached the customer with a solution to their requests.
Our battery powered Compact 3 trackers were installed covertly inside a variety of appliances such as ovens and hot water systems to track location and movement.

  • The Compact 3 trackers were configured with a remotely activatable “recovery” mode that would increase tracking frequency for asset recovery.
  • Highly visible stickers were displayed at the customer sites, to attempt to deter any potential thieves.
  • All the data was sent to Trackd, the GPS tracking platform. There, geofences were created for each building site location where the assets were to be installed.
  • Notifications were created to alert the security team when devices exited their respective geofence locations, and when the device detected that it was moving.
  • Notifications were also created when the device’s batteries were running low, so that the security team could arrange to replace them.

The Result

The implementation of the telematics solution allowed the security company to significantly reduce theft on the building sites monitored, and to recover any assets that were stolen with assistance from the local police force.

Activate Difference

The advertisement of tracking devices being used on site via stickers and signage was proven to be a successful deterrent of theft.

Asset Recovery

Any assets that were stolen were successfully recovered by activating the trackers “recovery” mode so that the location could be actively tracked and shared with local police.

Device Portability

The Compact 3 tracker is a small, portable device which can be covertly installed with ease for simple re-use between assets.
