While our day-to-day focus at Fleetware is keeping fleets efficient, compliant, and safe, we also believe in looking at the bigger picture. We think it is vital to play a part in the global effort to increase equality and improve the quality of life for communities facing significant hardship.
To turn this belief into action, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income every single month to donate to impactful causes around the world.
To ensure our contributions make the maximum possible impact, we partner with an organisation called B1G1. Their unique model ensures that 100% of our giving goes directly to the projects we choose. In March, our focus was on three incredible initiatives designed to improve education, training, and the quality of life for women and girls.
Through this partnership, our collective contributions in March supplied:
5 months of literacy and business training for women in Uganda.
5 weeks of schooling for adolescent girls in Kenya.
5 years’ worth of essential hygiene kits for girls and women in Kenya.
Building Business Resilience in Uganda
In many rural Ugandan communities, access to traditional financial services is incredibly limited. To solve this, our project partners help establish savings-led microfinance groups. These groups allow local women to save together and provide small loans to one another to start or scale up small businesses.
Our contribution funded five months of literacy and business training to support these entrepreneurs. By learning how to manage revenue and build sustainable business practices, these women can better provide healthcare, nutritious food, and education for their families. This training creates a reliable safety net, allowing families to withstand financial emergencies and build long-term resilience.
Keeping Girls in School Across Kenya
Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, but practical obstacles often stand in the way. In Kenya, our giving targeted two distinct projects for young women.
The first project provides secondary school education for orphaned adolescent girls, directly reducing dropout rates caused by a lack of school fees. The project aims to support 100 girls in local day secondary schools and 50 girls in boarding secondary schools. The impact of this program is clear, with over 60% of graduates moving into regular employment or self-employment.
The second project tackles an overlooked barrier to education: access to basic sanitary health. Many young women in poverty miss up to a week of school every month simply because they cannot afford disposable hygiene products. This adds up to 10 weeks of lost learning each year, causing many girls to fall behind and eventually drop out.
Our contribution provided five years’ worth of reusable hygiene kits distributed through the Odede Hospital, paired with health education from Nurses in Action volunteers. It is a simple solution that keeps girls in the classroom where they belong.
