Over the past couple of years, we’ve typically focused on writing about a new product or solution that we’ve been working on, along with updates about our software, platform, and business. But today, we’re shifting gears to shine a light on a key part of our success—our people. We caught up with Meg, our Operations Supervisor, who plays a vital role in developing our product, supporting fleet managers, and ensuring our customers get the best service possible.

For many customers, Meg is the friendly voice on the phone, assisting with fleet tracking, inquiries, installation checks, and troubleshooting. Having been with Fleetware for over six years and as the very first employee, Meg has witnessed firsthand how our technology has evolved to help businesses manage their fleet vehicles, reduce operational costs, and improve fleet performance. Today, we’re putting Meg to the test to share her insights on how our fleet management software, Trackd, facilitates compliance, improves fleet safety, and helps businesses operate more efficiently.

Q: What advice would you give to a new customer installing a GPS vehicle tracking device or dash cam?

Meg: Proper installation is a critical component of fleet management. Our operations team follows a thorough quality assurance process before shipping devices, ensuring each unit connects properly to cellular or satellite networks (GPS tracking), communicates seamlessly with the cloud, and can detect and report events as they occur. This guarantees complete visibility over vehicle movement from day one.

Every device box includes a QR code linking to step-by-step installation guides. Whether you’ve installed one or a hundred devices, these guides help ensure compliance and accuracy. We also strongly recommend contacting our support team during installation. We conduct additional checks to ensure that the device has been wired and installed correctly. This proactive approach helps prevent installation issues, reducing downtime and unnecessary maintenance costs.

Q: Our software platform, Trackd, has heaps of different notifications available that can be tailored to each customer’s needs. What are some of the benefits of these notifications?

Meg: Notifications are key features of our software, offering actionable insights that improve fleet management, safety and efficiency. Real-time alerts for incidents and driver behaviour, including harsh braking, fatigue events and duress signals, each of which is particularly valuable for businesses managing commercial vehicles in remote areas. These alerts enable quick responses to potential emergencies, protecting drivers and fleet assets.

Our geofence technology is another feature in our platform that we can tailor to each customer’s needs. We can set up different ‘virtual fences’ that will notify you when vehicles are entering these locations, how long they remain there, and when they leave. Geofences are useful for vehicles that are entering and exiting mining or building sites, or if you want to ‘group’ different vehicles for specific regions or states. We can even set up geofences for home addresses for employees, so you can be notified if they’re going home during work hours, or if their work vehicles are being driven over the weekend or other non-working hours.

Q: What are some of the different ways that customers can receive a notification?

Meg: Notifications can be delivered via email, desktop pop-ups, or mobile push alerts. The flexibility of our system allows fleet managers to assign specific notifications about key metrics to different team members or to set up notifications for specific units. This tailored approach ensures the relevant data reaches the right people, supporting data-driven decision-making and helping businesses optimise operations with ease.

Q: What kinds of user access and permissions can you set up for different people within a business?

Meg: Managing a fleet requires structured access control. Trackd offers three levels of user access:

  • Standard User: View-only access for vehicle location tracking, detailed reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Power User: Can manage fleet assets, maintenance schedules, and driver performance data but cannot modify user settings.
  • Super User: Full access to oversee compliance, data analysis, and vehicle maintenance records, ensuring seamless fleet operations.

This structured access ensures businesses maintain control over their data and assets while empowering key decision-makers to act efficiently.

Q: How would you describe the service that we provide as a team?

Meg: Our dedication to customer satisfaction is what truly sets us apart. Our support team is based in Western Australia, and we start at 7 AM (AWST) to assist customers in the eastern states. Our response times are exceptional; we aim for an initial response within an hour and a resolution within 12 hours, thanks to our efficient ticketing system.

You don’t just need to take our word for it—we’re proud to have a 5-star rating on Google, which speaks volumes about our commitment to excellent service. We understand that fleet management software is critical to business operations, which is why we prioritise fast, effective support to ensure minimal downtime. Whether it’s troubleshooting a GPS tracking issue, optimising routes for drivers, or reviewing fuel use, we’re here to help businesses manage their fleets more efficiently.
