At Fleetware, we think it’s important to play our part in the global effort to increase equality and the quality of life for the millions of people who are much less fortunate than us. So, every month, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income to be donated to various causes.

We use an organisation called B1G1 which ensures that 100% of our giving goes towards the causes of our choice.

With Earth Day falling on the 22nd of April, it was only fitting that our focus for this month was supporting the wellbeing and sustainability of our planet!

So, in April we supplied:

  • 60 days of training in regenerative farming in Indonesia
  • 60 days of agroforestry training for coffee farmers in Nicaragua
  • 1 year of protection for 4000 square metres of forest in Honduras

Regenerative Farming & Agroforestry

In Indonesia, farmers typically practised ‘slash and burn’ agriculture to clear rainforests and expand their farmland. Logging and burning rainforests is not only a dangerous job that poses great risk to farmers and their families – it’s a job that leaves significant environmental damage in its wake. Teaching sustainable, regenerative farming practices such as crop rotation, and how to utilise organic fertilisers and pesticides, means that farmers can now farm the same plot of land, year after year. With more efficient and regenerative methods, families can now grow more produce without having to clear more land or use harmful chemicals – benefitting both their livelihoods and the environment that they depend on.

In Nicaragua, coffee farming contributes to over 20% of the nation’s agricultural GDP and provides nearly half of all agricultural jobs in the country. Similarly to Indonesia, ‘slash and burn’ agriculture is a common technique used by farmers in Nicaragua, and unfortunately, the Central American rainforest is suffering the consequences of this. Providing 60 days of agroforestry training to coffee farmers is a simple method that not only promotes environmental conservation – it creates more sustainable and profitable farming operations that are so important to Nicaragua’s economy.

Forest Protection

Honduras is currently faced with an alarming rate of habitat loss due to climate change, urbanisation, and deforestation. Communities on the outskirts of its capital city, Tegucigalpa, are concerned about its rapid growth driving the deterioration of their communally managed forest and primary water source. By protecting 4000 square metres of forest for one year, we can support these communities’ efforts to slow the poaching of trees, safeguard water sources, and preserve wildlife habitats.

We thank all our customers for your continuous support of Fleetware and our giving efforts. These initiatives are more than just numbers. They represent real change and the opportunity to create a greener future for our planet.
