Frequently Asked Questions

What is telematics?

Simply put, telematics is the combination of telecommunications and informatics into a single discipline, commonly used now to refer specifically to vehicle telematics. Essentially, telematics is the sending, receiving and storage of information relating to vehicles and other remote objects through a mobile network.

What is the difference between telematics, GPS tracking, and IVMS (In-Vehicle Monitoring System)?

In essence, nothing! GPS tracking is just one piece of information that falls within telematics. IVMS is really just an interchangeable term for telematics that is often used in the mining and resources industry.
