At Fleetware, we think it’s important to play our part in the global effort to increase equality and the quality of life for the millions of people who are much less fortunate than us. So, every month, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income to be donated to various causes.

We use an organisation called B1G1 which ensures that 100% of our giving goes towards the causes of our choice. This month, our focus was providing ‘dual impact’ donations that aim to improve sustainable income generation as well as act as a source of food and nutrition to those that need it most.

So, in January we supplied:

  • 50 fruit saplings for families in India
  • 3 goats to rural families in Kenya
  • 5 months of irrigation to a village in Kenya

Growing Sustainable Livelihoods Through Fruit Tree Farming

This project supports rural and tribal households to strengthen their livelihoods by cultivating locally suited fruit trees such as banana, guava, and papaya on farmland and in household backyards. Farmers are provided with high-quality saplings, hands-on training in organic farming practices, and ongoing technical support to help them make productive use of under-utilised land. As these long-term crops mature, families benefit from improved household nutrition while also gaining the opportunity to sell surplus produce in local markets, creating an additional and more reliable source of income.

The project also promotes environmental sustainability through agroforestry practices that improve soil health, increase green cover, and support climate resilience. By combining livelihood development with ecological restoration, the initiative helps reduce vulnerability to climate shocks while empowering small and marginal farmers to turn their land into a lasting asset for both income and food security.

Empowering Kenyan Families Through Goat Breeding

Through a goat sponsorship initiative, families in rural Western Kenya are gaining practical tools to improve their livelihoods and build long-term financial stability. Contributions help fund the purchase of a female goat and the necessary breeding infrastructure, giving a household access to a productive animal for up to a year. Working with three local communities, the program supports families with training, resources, and ongoing guidance to successfully raise and breed goats, gradually expanding their herd over time. This creates multiple income opportunities, including the sale of nutritious goat’s milk, meat, and young goats at local markets. Women are the primary beneficiaries of the project, as they are typically responsible for caring for the goats and managing the income generated, which is often reinvested directly into household needs such as food, healthcare, and education. By strengthening income sources and supporting women’s economic participation, the initiative helps families move towards greater independence and resilience.

Strengthening Food Security with Sustainable Irrigation

Supporting the construction of irrigation systems for community fruit and vegetable gardens helps villages strengthen both food security and local livelihoods. By sponsoring the costs of irrigation for five months, communities can maintain consistent soil moisture – an essential factor for seed germination, nutrient absorption, and healthy plant growth. Reliable irrigation allows gardens to produce crops throughout the year, rather than being limited to seasonal rainfall. As a result, communities gain access to a steady supply of fresh produce while also creating opportunities to sell surplus harvests for additional income. Initiatives like this not only improve daily nutrition but also support long-term resilience by empowering villages to sustainably grow their own food and generate shared economic benefits.
