At Fleetware, we think it’s important to play our part in the global effort to increase equality and quality of life for the millions of people that are much less fortunate than us. So, every month, we set aside a percentage of our subscription income to be donated to a variety of different causes.
We use an organisation called B1G1 who ensures that 100% of our giving goes towards the causes of our choice.
In February we supplied:
- 2 years of access to school uniforms for children in Cambodia
- 240 textbooks and exercise books to schools in Kenya
- 270 days of primary school education for children in Zimbabwe
This month, we decided to focus on education. With Australian children heading back to school in February, it was only fitting that we share the opportunity of education with others from around the world.
School Uniforms
Education is free in Cambodia, however, there are other requirements that must be met in order for children to actually attend school. One of these requirements is that children must wear a government-approved uniform, yet many families don’t have the capacity to purchase one. This has a significant impact on school attendance as it prevents children from lower socioeconomic demographics from receiving an education, further cementing the cycle of poverty in these communities. So, we have donated two years’ worth (730 days) of school uniforms to children in Cambodia – because every child deserves to go to school.
Textbooks & Exercise Books
In Kenya, textbooks are a highly sought after resource for schools, particularly in areas in which parents cannot afford to buy them. So, this month we supplied 240 textbooks and exercise books to children and schools that need it most. Although books may seem like a simple resource, they are key in developing a child’s reading and writing skills. By providing 240 new books for schools, we have ensured that another 240 children are able to experience the magical world of books and build their literacy skills.
Access to Education
We know that education is one of the most beneficial approaches to combatting poverty and lifting entire communities out of this cycle. That’s why we sponsored three school terms (270 days) of education to children in Zimbabwe. In addition to covering their tuition fees, this project also supports schools with resources such as books, clean water and building repairs – ensuring that children can reach their full potential whilst at school. Education is a fundamental human right, so granting these children access to school is a no-brainer – enabling them to learn key literacy and numeracy skills that will set them up for success as adults.
We thank all our customers for continuing their support for Fleetware and our giving efforts, helping us to build a better world, one school day at a time.
